History[]

The Glue Library was an addon created by user Isaac Macgill for the popular sandbox game Garry's Mod (GMod). This addon provided additional Lua functionality with addon support. One of the key features of the Glue Library was its ability give addons more capabilities in their Lua programming. This allowed add-ons to carry out more complex tasks and actions without having to keep creating the same functions for the tasks.

The Incident[]

However, on June 3rd, there was a significant event that had a major impact on the GMod community.

On that day, the GMod add-ons page was inundated with malicious content, including screamers, cryptocurrency miners, and other harmful files. The incident was instigated by user Isaac Macgill, who was the first person to upload an addon containing the shock image "Prolapse Man" from the website LOLShock. This caused widespread panic and confusion among the GMod community, as players were caught off guard by the sudden barrage of disturbing images and sounds. Many players were not expecting this type of content and were traumatized and shocked by what they saw and heard.

It is believed that one of the key factors that led to Isaac Macgill's actions was his history of mental health issues. Prior to the incident, a Steampipe update to GMod caused many add-ons, including those of Isaac Macgill's, to experience Lua errors. This led to a significant amount of harassment and pressure on Isaac Macgill to fix his mods. Given his mental state, Isaac Macgill was unable to cope with the pressure and decided to lash out in an episode of exasperation. He altered the code of all of his add-ons to play an extremely loud sound file and display the "Prolapse Man" image once the player spawned into a map and input any key into the keyboard.

The incident also led to a significant decline in the number of players using GMod, as many were afraid of encountering similar content in the future. It serves as a reminder of the importance of the need for stricter moderation and community guidelines to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future. This event had a significant impact on the GMod community and tarnished the reputation of Glue Library and its creator Isaac Macgill.
