VRMod is an addon created by Catse that allows PCVR users to play Garry's Mod in full virtual reality with controller support, full body support, lip and eye tracking support. It was created on 10 March, 2019 and has made small appearances in some media outlets.
Currently the addon supports any PCVR compatible device such as the Valve Index, Oculus Quest, Oculus Quest 2, Oculus Rift, HTC Vive, WMR headsets, and more. Unlike most addons, VRMod requires binary modules to work for VR users but if the server is in multi-player, then the other players who aren't using VR don't need the module. The binaries exist to add fuctions in GLua that aren't possible to implement without adding executable code. The installer file and 3 others are detected as malicious by some anti-malware vendors in VirusTotal.[1][2][3][4] No other file for the addon is detected as malicious in VirusTotal. Those could be false positives and the user could compile the source code if needed as those binary files that were detected as malicious are the compiled source code. The source code and binary modules the creator made are in a zlib license. There is also an unofficial version of the addon that uses the same unmodified binary modules as the original; the addon itself still updates once in a while.
