The Yes, I am the real garry! achievement is an achievement which is only given to players who meet Garry Newman. It is currently unobtainable due to his retirement from the game.

- Before the second achievement update, this achievement was named "Are you the real Garry?"
- Contrary to popular belief, the achievement percentage rate is 3%, making it only the 6th rarest achievement behind 10 Thumbs, Addict, 100 Thumbs, 1000Thumbs, and Mega Upload, but ahead of Menu User.
- Garry has been seen multiple times on Garry's Mod, being commonly found on TTT servers, but recently being noticed in sandbox servers.
- On December 31, 2015, there was an exploit that made it possible for people to appear as Garry and give everyone on the server the 'Yes, I am the real Garry!' achievement. This bug was fixed in the 2016.01.18 update, ensuring that it would be totally impossible to unlock this achievement.
- On March 4, 2018, at 4:00pm, an achievement hunting group named 100Pals hosted an event with Garry, in which a user named Mercury contacted him via email to get him online. He agreed to come to an event centered around the achievement. 443 users got the achievement through this; a video of the entire event, as well as an explanation, was uploaded to YouTube by the user who got in contact with Garry.
